Farewell Kevin Rostam

October 09, 2025

Kevin Rostam, a Columbia Undergrad who started doing independent research in the lab in the fall of 2022, recently left the lab to meet new challenges. For the next year, Kevin is exploring new science in Erin Schuman's lab in Frankfurt.

While in the lab, Kevin developed new technology that enables us to label membrane proteins by covalently linking them to a fluorescent tag. This work will soon be published in PNAS (described in a separate post). Kevin was also the recipient of the prestigious Thomas Hunt Morgan prize, given by the Department of Biological Sciences for the most impactful research by an undergraduate.

We wish Kevin the best of luck in the Schuman lab and beyond!
